Fundamental Orders of

 Connecticut:

  • written in 1629

  • first constitution

  • expanded to idea of representative government 

Economy:

   Farming was hard because there was not very good 

   soil. Some things that the people were still able

   to grow include, rye, corn, beans, and pumpkin.

   People along the coast relied on fishing, whaling,

   and shipbuilding.

Trade/Exports:

   Fish, ships, timber, maple syrup, copper, rum, and

   livestock.

Geography:

   A hilly eastern upland and narrow lowlands.

   Mountains with an abundance of trees. Poor rocky

   soil and rivers.

Major Industries:

   Agriculture- corn and fishing

Climate:

   Short and mild temperature summers led to long and

   cold winters. There was not much disease.

Celebrity/Important Residents:

   Suzanne Collins, George W. Bush, Nathan Hale, and Eli

   Whitney.

 

Connecticut is a great place because of the voting system and council. It is great for farmers because of the abundance of plants and the good soil and has shipbuilding. and is good because of the abundance of fish.
