Found for religious freedom by

Pilgrams, and Puritan was the only

religion in this colony.

 

The Mayflower set sail for Virginia

but was blown off course and ended up creating the Massachusetts Colony.

 

The Mayflower was full of Pilgrams who are people that go on a religious or spiritual journey.

 

The Mayflower Compact was created in this colony by the Pilgrams.

 

Economy:

      People who lived along the coast made a living by

      fishing, whaling, and shipbuilding. The whale oil was

      used in lamps and was very valuable. They had poor

      so farming was very difficult, but some things like

      pumpkins, beans, rye, and corn were able to grow.

Trade/Exports:

      Timber, fur, livestock, ships, rum, and fish.

Geography:

      Massachusetts has a jagged coast and is hilly. There is

      mountains with an abundance of trees. Many rivers and

      very poor soil, which is not good for farming.

Major Industries:

      Agricultre- livestock, fishing, and corn   

      Maufacturing- lumbering and shipbuilding

Climate:

      Short summers with mild temperature throughout the day

      led to cold weather during the winter. Not as much

      disease.

Celebrity/Important Residents:

      President John Quincy Adams, President John F. Kennedy,

      and Susan B. Anthony.

 

Massachusetts is a great place because of the freedom of religion. it is great for farmers because of the abundance of plants and the good soil and has shipbuilding.
