Found by Roger williams. 

 

It was a safe haven for religious

tolerance.

 

There was a separation of

church and state. Broke away from

Massachsetts. 

 

Roger Williams believed that the Puritan Church had too much power. He purchased the land for the Rhode Island from Native Americans.

 

Economy:

   People that lived along the coast relied on fishing,

   whaling, and shipbuilding.

   The soil is not very good for farming, but they were

   still able to plant crops like rye, corn, beans, and

   pumpkins.

Trade/Exports:

   Fish, ships, timber, fur, maple syrup, copper, and

   rum.

Geography:

   Lowlands and flat rolling hills. Rivers and poor rocky

   soil that not very good for farming.

Major Industries:

   Agriculture- livestock, dairy, and fishing

   Manufacturing- lumber

Climate:

   Short and mild temperature summers led to long and

   cold winters. There was not much disease in this

   colony.

   Jason Estrada, Nathanael Greene, and Isaac P. Rodman

 

Rhode Island is a great place because of the freedom of religion. It is great for farmers because of the abundance of plants and the good soil and has shipbuilding. It is a great place to start a civilization, and is good because of the abundance of fish and self goverment.
