Why our colony is better...

Located near Hudson River- many ports which meant a lot of successful trade.

Very good farmland

They grew a lot of wheat and grains.

They got first access to the imported goods.

It was so successful that England fought the Dutch for it.

 

 

 

Weaknesses

of other colonies...

Virginia:

  • A lot of disease

  • Poor relationships with Native Americans

  • Mostly had gentlemen who spent all day looking for gold instead of food.

  • Poor hunting.

  • Shortage of drinking water

Massachusetts:

  • There was no diversity in religion. Puritan.

  • The land was open and unprotected from attacks and raids

  • First ones to introduce slavery

  • Many woman were accused to be witches

  • winters were very cold

New Hampshire:

  • The climate was very damp and very cold

  • They did not have good soil and were not able to farm many crops.

  • They did not rely on farming

Pennsylvania:

  • Conflict with the indians

  • Quakers were not liked in Egland and Pennsylvania was found by Quakers.

Georgia:

  • It was full of debtor so it wasn't really worth much.

  • It ws a bufferzon between Spanish terriory and French territory.
