It was a bufferzone.

Economy:

   Concentrated on agriculture like fruits,

   grains,cotton, livestock, and tobacco.

Trade/Exports:

    Traded crops for shoes, lace, dishes,

   farm tools, and thread.

   Tobacco, corn, cotton, indigo, rice,

   lumber, and furs.

Geography:

   Hilly coastal plains and forests.

Major Industries:

   Agriculture-sugar, rice, and indigo

Climate:

   Winters were very easy to get through, but

   the summer were not as easy. Diseases

   spread very quickly.

   They were still able to grow crops.
